ABOUT
Edison Herbert

IT ALL STARTED WITH
An Endless Passion for Music
For Discovery, for People and Life.....
Edison Herbert is a sensitive and melodic musician who plays the guitar from the heart. Encouraged by his parents from the Caribbean Island of Nevis, Edison played classical piano as a boy. He studied classical piano at The Yorkshire College of Music. However, the journey really began when he heard one of his favourite musicians play the guitar. Immediately captivated by it’s sound, he started the task of teaching himself.
Edison’s passion for the guitar resulted in a scholarship to further his studies at The Guildhall School Of Music and Drama where he performed with The Guildhall Big Band featuring Randy Brecker at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. After being heard at Ronnie’s he was asked to join the Jazz Warriors. Edison wrote arrangements for the Olivier award nominated West End musical “Unforgettable” and was M.D on the international tours. He composed music for BBC Radio 4 drama “Spell Number Seven”, performed with HKB Finn, Julie Dexter, The West End musical ‘Get Up Stand Up.’
The Edison Herbert Trio was formed in 2014 which features Neville Malcolm one of the most in demand bass players in the UK and best British Jazz Awards drummer for 2020 Winston Clifford. In 2015 Edison was sponsored by the Arts Council to tour with their first album “My Favourite Tunes vol 1”. A second album “All I Need” has been recorded and is due to be released.
In 2016 Edison took part in Sky Arts series ‘Guitar Star’ which was broadcast in Europe, Australia and South America. After performing one of his original compositions that world renowned Jazz legend George commented, “You played the cr*p out of that brother. I really enjoyed your playing, You’re one of the few cats who can make that thing sound so good.” Edison’s performances were so extraordinary that George Benson took him under his wing and continues to be his mentor and friend. Singer songwriter Lianne La Havas jammed with Edison. She quoted “I corresponded to Edison’s voicings on the guitar. I enjoyed jamming with him. He’s mega talented.”
Edison has recording his new project ‘Time For Love’. Soon to be released in 2020. Edison’s thought’s,’ whilst recording this project I noticed there was great chemistry in the studio and the guys connected so well, it truly was an amazing experience to share the studio with such enthusiastic and giving musicians. Pete Adam Hill-Drums, Neville Malcolm-Bass and Sean Hargreaves-Keys/Piano. Oh and not to forget Matt our camera man too.’
The sensational album, ‘Time For Love’ is here. The music is catchy, vibrant and engaging.
