Biography
Edison Herbert is a UK-based jazz guitarist, bandleader, and composer celebrated for his warm tone, melodic clarity, and groove-driven sound. Heavily influenced by the legends Wes Montgomery and Grant Green, and personally mentored by the iconic George Benson, Edison’s music sits at a sophisticated intersection of straight-ahead jazz, gospel, soul, and Caribbean rhythms.
He leads the Edison Herbert Quartet and Trio, performing regularly at prestigious jazz clubs and select festivals across the UK. His live performances are recognised for a rare combination of technical swing, seamless communication, and accessibility qualities that resonate with seasoned jazz aficionados and new audiences alike. A versatile artist, Edison is a sought after performer for international jazz festivals, concert series, and curated corporate events.
To date, Edison has released four acclaimed albums: More Beautiful Each Day, My Favourite Tunes, Time for Love, and his latest work, All I Need. His recordings are noted for their strong storytelling and emotional depth, earning critical praise from major publications including The Jazzmann, Making A Scene, and Paris-Moves. Notably, he is among a select group of jazz artists pioneering immersive audio, combining traditional musicianship with cutting-edge studio production.
Beyond the bandstand, Edison’s career spans the theatrical world. He served as Musical Director for Unforgettable (by Clarke Peters and Larrington Walker) and performed in the West End production of Get Up, Stand Up!. Dedicated to the continued evolution of the genre, he also produces high-level jazz education content via YouTube and specialized online guitar courses.
